justnoodlefishthings:

meat does not cause cancer

I’m sure you’ve seen people spout this out before. So let’s clear this up shall we.

Meat doesn’t cause cancer. It just doesn’t. If it were true then every predator in the food web would be crippled by tumors. Since we don’t have swaths of lions and weasels and hawks and dolphins and raccoons dropping dead from carcinomas, we know this to be true.

The CDC has stated that processed and grilled meats put you at an increased risk for colon cancer.

Processed and char grilled meats puts you at an increased risk for colon cancer but it’s not the meat causing that risk.

The preservatives in processed meat cause cancer, not the meat.

The charring on grilled meat causes cancer, because it’s pure burnt carbon. Grilling a piece of broccoli or corn gives you the same risk because it’s the carbonized strips that are bad.

This is why ethnicities with a culture of grilling meats have a higher risk of colon cancer. Because they grill all their meat which gives them an increased exposure to char.

Boiling, frying, poaching, roasting, baking, and slow cooking meat avoids the charring and therefore avoids the colon cancer risk. Meat doesn’t cause cancer you asinine pesudoscience practitioners.
