sawri:

here’s something I noticed that probably doesn’t mean anything but I’m still thinking about.

the track that plays when Hiro first meets Zero Two (when she jumps out of the water) is the same track that plays when young Hiro tells young Zero Two that they can be together forever. what do they have in common? it’s both of the times where one of them becomes captivated by the other. It marks both of the beginnings of their stories, since we know they have two “first” meetings. it’s both of the moments that gave drive to the other.

“Her two alluring horns and my first ever look at a naked female body left me transfixed and unable to take my eyes off of her.” since this meeting, Hiro can’t stop thinking about Zero Two. before, he was accepting his fate of being a flightless bird, yet she began to give him meaning again.

then, we have her part.

Zero Two says, “I don’t know why, but tears flowed from my eyes. It wasn’t because my wound hurt. Yeah, those were probably tears of joy.”

she now has hope for a future. Hiro promised her they would “awwi” (marry) “once we get out of here. I want to be with you forever, too. and then I’ll be your darling.” Hiro was the one that showed her she doesn’t have to be alone. he starts to give her life meaning too.

and the whole point was that the same track plays for both of these moments because we know how much DitF likes parallels :’)
