okay so I don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade but… I don’t think the altean markings are gendered but instead a genetic trait that is inherited!

Here we see that Alfor’s markings aren’t pink or blue but instead green! This leads me to assume that at least one of his parents/grandparents also had green markings! Also notice that Allura’s mom has pink markings that allura shares!

Romelle also has blue markings and while this could mean she’s trans (which I actually headcannon her as trans but not because of her marks) but I think it’s a family trait because her brother,

seen here, also posses blue altean marks! Also I don’t have any photos for this but many alteans around the colony have marks that are green, purple, and red!

Some other Alteans with different markings are:

Lotor has marks that appear to be purple-ish

Honerva/Haggar has red marks!

There’s two alteans here with blue marks and what appears to be a grey-ish color mark!
