This is not Ni

teatimewithanintj:

High Ni users don’t guess things. If you feel you have high Ni because you take guesses based on your awesome intuition (and end up being right), it is most likely not your dominant function. Taking a guess is risky and Ni-doms are usually frightened by the unsafe. High Ni is based on a complex method of gaining and analyzing information that, indeed, is hard to explain, but is not magical. The best ones I’ve seen having classical intuition are sensors, especially Se users: their high Se perceives clues and their low Ni draws conclusions.

Also, if you focus on one most likely outcome because “you just know”, without eliminating all the others you could think of, you’re not Ni-dom. If you are very rigid about your conclusions, you’re not Ni-dom (or you’re very unhealthy). High healthy Ni is all about progression, and that means changing an opinion or idea once new facts emerged. (And this is right for Si too: all healthy Si users I know will take time to process new informations and change their mind if needed. It’s tiring to see them depicted as stuck in their one way of thinking.)

About the hunches and “aha” moments… It happens to Ni-doms, but not without them having already thought or heard about a subject. We don’t magically blurt out conclusions: they come after we thought about something and “let it cool down”, or if we have knowledge about something similar and we made fast links between the subjects.
