Life is strange is all about love

onegirllis:

And Rachel amber is not a bitch.
SH’es not manipulating Chloe,. She genuinely loves her. Why?

I just think about it as a self-protective technique, just to save yourself from emotional rollercoaster that will hit us at the end of BtS. If you believe that Rachel at this point is sincere, honest, sometimes lost and really loves Chloe, what happened to her in LIS hurts you even more. If so, some people might assume that Max seems more like a consolation prize (something like – well I couldn’t be with you, so at least you have your best friend).
It’s just easier to think that Rachel Amber is an evil bitch and she somehow deserved her fate. It’s the same way of thinking that a lot of people use while describing crime victims. It’s easier to say – they deserved it (skirt was too short, he was a mess, he came from a broken home etc.) because it’s self-protective. Kinda wishful thinking – If you find a blame in a victim, it won’t happen to you. It won’t affect you.
in other words – Rachel played Chloe so it’s her fault what happened to her in LIS 1.
Life is not that simple.
Maybe I’m overthinking it because true crime is one the stuff I’m interested in, and every time somebody goes missing, a father, a daughter, a sister – you always find a lot of dirt and bad stuff about that person when you start digging. It doesn’t mean that those missing people / victims were bad people or didn’t love their families.
LIS 1 and now BtS take us beyond our comfort zone and show different perspective. This is critical to understand the events in the main game and the whole horror of it. Bad people usually don’t end up dead. True story. Rachel.. well we all know what happened to her. That said it makes the first game more personal and.. more painful.

Anyway, I don;’t know where BtS will lead us, how hard it will hit us with the ending and how our impression of Rachel will change. For me it’s a beautiful story about love. Love that reaches beyond the grave, to let your beloved ones know what happened. That Rachel didn’t leave, didn’t run away – she was taken away from Chloe. And if it takes to give somebody travel time power, why not.

It doesn’t mean that the next relationship has to go bad, that there was no love between Max and Chloe, that only Rachel mattered. Not at all. It’s even adding more dimensions to the ending of the original game – Sacrifice Chloe – let her be with her loved one, or sacrifice the Bay and give her chance for a happy life. Let Chloe free, let Max decide.

If BtS was a story about a mean bitch that uses all her sexiness to manipulate Chloe, it would be super shallow. In my opinion of course.
