What’s so fantastic to me about this episode, is how Dipper has to save Mabel with the strength of his determination and willpower. It’s such a contrast to how Mabel saves the day in “Not What He Seems” by relying on her heart and faith in the ones she loves.

Dipper is the head, therefore he can put aside the temptations of Bill’s trap, move past all the emotional manipulation and focus on the facts: none of this is real and he has to save his sister from these harmful delusions.

Mabel is the heart, therefore she can completely ignore every fact that tells her Stan is a bad guy and trust him anyway. Not because she’s naive, but because she knows how to read people and listen to her gut instinct, allowing her to bypass all logic. That faith is what helps her ultimately make the right choice.

I just love how Gravity Falls shows that no matter how different Mabel and Dipper are personality-wise, one’s mentality is not superior to the other’s. They both have unique strengths that are equally important and allowed to shine at different points in the show.
