“Sir, if you were my husband, I would poison your drink.” “Madam, if you were my wife, I would drink it.”
Exchange between Lady Astor and Lord Birkenhead—”
When I worked in fast food for minimum wage, they would yell at us and lecture us about “stealing” fries and burgers (while we had to throw out TONS of food every day) as though the giant billion-dollar corporations of McDonald’s and Sonic couldn’t afford to give their employees something to eat (while not even paying us a living wage).
Now I work at an upscale restaurant (it’s fancy, like celebrities eat there fairly often) and not only do I make WAY better money but they give us 2 free meals a day (eaten on the clock) and they’re GOOD. Today I got baked cod, spring rolls, rice pilaf, stir fry, and mashed potatoes and eggplant. Oh, and free espresso and juice. From this restaurant owned by a local man who is in no way a billionaire.
Obviously money is not the issue, valuing your employees as people is.
Making fun of girls who dream of being a wife and stay-at-home-mom actually doesn’t make you progressive or feminist or cool, it just makes you a person who shits on someone else’s dream, a.k.a an asshole
I WILL ALWAYS REBLOG THIS
Always important to remember; the enemy of feminism is not a particular lifestyle, the enemy of feminism is to not be able to choose.
Just housewife things.
The issues I have with devils line so far is the fact that they dragged a chapter out in one episode when that wasnt that important and then shortened the stuff in the second chapter and the order of,things is out of,place and there are some scenes, missing and its bothering me as a person, who loves the manga..but I’m glad its,not as,bad as what they did to Tokyo ghoul…which I’m,finally,reading..
Before I start frothing at the mouth and fling myself into a blind rage, let me say this:
A show inducing pain and sadness is not inherently bad. If that is being used as a springboard to create joy and happiness or to make you feel for a character, that’s actually good writing.
One of my favorite manga Berserk does this beautifully: I cried for Guts, I wept for Guts and thus I feel for and understand his pain, making him less a drawing on a page and the chronicles of a real man.
I say this because calling Episode 14 inherently bad just because it was sad doesn’t make it actually bad: It proves you care about the characters and could very well be trying to set up for some romantic payoff. The show hasn’t gone full Evangelion yet. Even the excuse of “it makes no sense to separate them!” doesn’t work because we all knew they were gonna be separated by the higher ups anyway. What happens next determines whether or not this is the tunring point in the show being bad but this episode was trying to be sad and it evidently did it’s job well. Whether or not it uses that well is up for the future but again, standalone it’s a good episode.
