Voltron Theory: Season 5 and Beyond

darkspellmaster:

So given that it’s going to take me a bit to write up all my
thoughts on Season 4, because there is a lot, I thought I might go into a brief
set of thoughts on season 5 and 6 as well as the rest that would follow.

1. Keith returning to
Voltron.
I think this is a possibility if not by season 6 then by season 7
at the latest. With Lotor being around, and Keith not trusting him, I can
certainly see him not wanting to be away for long if Lotor is there. My guess
is that he’ll stay on, playing Shiro’s role in helping out rather than flying,
or fly with Lotor to watch him.

2. Lotor’s
redemption.
I don’t expect Lotor to get this till nearly the end of the 78
episode run. Lotor is not Zuko, and he’s not a man that will enjoy the idea of
at all working with the people that he was trying to capture for his own gain.
He’s going to use the crew, that much is certain, but as to if he’ll be a good
guy by the end of season 5 or 6, I would say no.

3. Lotor will at the
least start on a road to being a Good guy.
This I think will happen. I have
a feeling that given the hint that there is some sort of connection between
Lotor and Allura this will alter his view on the Altean’s and possibly his
plans. What those are I don’t know, but seeing how his personality is I can see
us seeing more of a goofy side to him thanks in part to the crew. More than
likely I can see him finding Pidge the most interesting along with Hunk in the
matter of getting things to work. So I can see him seeing them in a new light,
and he may actually start changing his view on the world and what really
happened that day.

4. Lotor and Allura. Hard
to say right now. Some are spectulating romance to come from this, I don’t
think so. The fact that they’ve been pushing him to be different then his
normal play boy counter parts indicates to me that he’ll respect Allura’s looks
but there will be a more brother to sister affection going on there if there is
anything like that. The fact that they may be related could come into play, and
Lotor might help her understand her powers or vice versa. Leading him to gain a
greater deal of respect for her as a leader and maybe lead later to a peace
between the two sides much like their father’s started with.

5. Operation Kuron.
We’ve seen this Shiro become more like his normal self. I’m wondering now if it’s
not so much that we had regular Shiro when we had them earlier, but that the
Clone version was the first Shiro and this one is the real one who is now
implanted with the Clone’s memories and could lead us to a very interesting situation
in regard to Haggar’s plans. This plot has not been dropped but I think it will
take on more of a role come season 7 over these next two.

6. Sam Holt. Now
that we have the brother, where is the father? We know the Holt Patriarch was
held captive and that he was not in the Gladiatorial pits. We also know he’s
the one that was working on the Photon and Helix storage, and more than likely other
significant projects for the Garrison. A brain like that would be useful to
Haggar and Zarkon, so I’m betting he’s being kept in an Area 51 place ala our
friend from season 2. Also I have a feeling that if anyone is getting that gate
to work it will be him, pidge, Hunk and Matt.

7. Lotor and the deal
with Voltron
. No doubt he’s going to do this to save his own skin. But I
think he knows that he’s going to need a better understanding of how the gate
works and Allura would be the one to show him that. My guess is he’ll offer
himself as a prisoner to help them beat his father, but in return the Galra
empire is to be turned over to him. He’s probably got at least three or four
ideas in his head, and Unlike Zuko where he has issues with daddy and wants to
please him to the point of betraying his friends, Lotor is far more adult and
probably plans on making it so that Voltron will have to help him with his
plans weather they like it or not.

8. The Generals.
Given their reaction to Narti’s death I have a feeling that Acxa will probably
be the one to betray the group and end up joining with Voltron to not only help
Lotor, but also, if it proves that she’s related to Keith, to help him.
Although even if not, she owes him one and will probably make good on her
actions. Both Zethrid and Enzor will join with them later, but for a while the
four will be on opposing sides, and Lotor will not easily forgive over this,
but he respects their choice. I have a feeling Haggar or Zarkon will let them
live if they help him capture Lotor.

9. The Mecha.
What that thing is, I don’t know. Right now Lotor has the legs, and it looks
like the girls have the torso and arms, which means the Head is elsewhere. To
me this means that someone is still finishing up the body, and, given that
Lotor was missing and unheard of for a while and clearly the girls didn’t know
about the gate, this screams to me that he’s working with Pollux for the
creation of all these things. Pollux would be a great place to hide it, as well
as have Lotor grow up since if there are Altean’s there his connection with
them would be stronger too.

10. The Gate.
Lotor’s reaction to the destruction of his home world was written all over his
face. Much like Allura he feels for the world that he lost. However, his plans
seem to be getting the quintessence between the worlds, not going to the other
one. Which begs the question, does he know about that other world, or is he
just going on theoretical info that his mother had. That Gate, I think, will
probably be the door to letting in the Evil Alteans that we met last season and
more than likely will ultimately lead Lotor to turn to work with Voltron to
beat them back.

11. Haggar’s plans.
Given her state of face for that one moment, I have to wonder if whatever is
causing her to do this lost some of its grip on her when she faced herself. It
looked like she remembered something or was in horror of what she had become,
but then was taken over again. I don’t think she’s brainwashed but something is
clearly influencing her actions. We also know that whatever she’s up to she’s
happy with Lotor’s actions. It could be that she’s been feeding him stories of
herself to get him to do her dirty work and open the rift again, which he seems
to be doing.

12. Princess Romelle,
Prince Bandor, and Prince Avok.
Given that it’s looking more and more
likely that we’ll be seeing a Pollux at some point, my guess is that Princess
Romelle may be the head of the Rebels and hiding it from her brother. We’ve
seen that there are Alteans and Galra that live in peace, so I have to wonder
if there’s going to be some time in the future where we will meet this trio. My
guess is that when we do, Romelle will be captured as the Rebel leader and that
she’ll send Bandor off with Voltron to keep him safe. Not sure about the
romance between her and Shiro, but given that Lauren said she liked the
character, I’m pretty sure at the very least we will get her.

13. Zarkon’s new
look.
I get the feeling that Zarkon is not alive anymore. Or at the very
least he’s still mostly in a coma. We’ve seen that he’s in a metal shell being
pumped full of warped quintessence. So I have to logically guess that he’s
going to end up playing more into his robeast form. I don’t think he’s going to
make it past Season 6 with this look and then the new villains will show up at
the end of Season 6, and start to work with Haggar who will be on the run.

14. Collation.
With the line being drawn in the sand, metaphorically and the Galra losing a
huge section of their planets, I get the feeling that we’ll see the collation
taking on a larger role in protecting the galaxy and probably playing an even
bigger role against the evil Atlean’s to come. After all, we were told over and
over about a different reality and we saw it, so that’s more or less a pretty
big hint on who is going to be the big bad for the last three seasons.

15. Keith, Lance,
Allura, Lotor, Matt, Pidge, Hunk, and Shiro.
This group is going to become
the core in the next season and how their dynamics will play out. It’s clear
that Lance and Matt both have crushes on Allura, while, given Lotor’s reaction
to things he’s probably going to become something of a rival to Keith and
Shiro. I have a feeling he may also display some of his own attraction at Pidge
due to her intelligence, something that will probably piss off Matt and
possibly Shiro as the big brothers of the groups. Hunk will more than likely be
the one that shows him how to become friends with the others. Allura’s ugly
side may show up due to her issues with the Galra still, and it will show.
There will be a lot of dynamics these next few seasons. Although I don’t see
the romance hitting high gear at all.

Anything I’m missing?

Anyone noticed these parallels here? S5 Lotor and Keith Predictions

moonbdreamin:

Allright…where to begin..

the voltron creators and the cast have been very vocal about how there is a power dynamic going on both on the Galran famiy front as well as the Team Voltron.

So if we can kind of make a chart on each others equals, it would go something like this

Shiro-Zarkon
Allura-Haggar/Honerva
Keith-Lotor.

I think the events of what happened to Keith and Lotor in S3/S4 will make for a great story telling in S5. Since Lotor apparently, “Saved the Day” in the S4 finale, I have a feeling he will use Keith to further his goals.

As we saw in Season 3/Season 4, both Keith and Lotor were called upon to take on leadership roles since both Zarkon/Shiro were incapable of doing this task.
However, both Keith and Lotor had their own methods on “how to lead” which conflicted with an already established team and carry out dynamic.

Haggar was very distrusting of Lotor and was sending spies to see what his true motives were.

image

This was met with Lotor telling her to mind her own business, and Haggar stressed the empire needed him and she didn’t want him to make the same mistakes as Zarkon.

This similar interaction  is seen with Allura and Keith in Season 4.

Like Lotor, Keith is pulling away from the team to focus on what he feels is more important. Allura makes a similar plea saying that Team Voltron needs him and the Blade of Mamora can go on without him.

Both Keith and Lotor dismiss their respective “Space mom’s” .

Now similarly, both Zarkon and Haggar were very hard on Lotor, mainly Haggar, because they felt he was not being the proper leader he needed to be to lead the Galra Empire.

However, as one can see, Lotor does crave power to rule where as Keith does not crave power to rule others, but feels it is best taking out an enemy as quick as possible.

When Shiro returns, Keith is still pleading with Shiro to be the Black Paladin again, and his absence makes that happen in the first episode of season 4.

Both Keith and Lotor are in front of their respective team leaders and a similar dismissal comes into play.
Both Zarkon/Shiro and Haggar/Allura are upset with Keith for what he did and how he almost jeopardized their “empire/team”

The final outcome is that Lotor and Keith pushed both of their leaders and the rest of their team away but on different premises.

Keith strongly believes that he has to be the one to get his hands dirty on the team to further their goals.

Lotor tried to portray that  his loyalty to the Galra was still aligned with that of his father and begged not to leave his side.

The difference in the leader’s outcome however was really not that different. Where as Zarkon completely dismissed his son

Shiro, accepted Keith’s decision, but at the same time, did not stop him from leaving (which is still in character for him, but just the same if they could both pilot the Black Lion, I don’t think it would be an issue for Shiro to have been a back up Black paladin, and vice versa)

And even though Keith looked happy to have restored the original paladin of The Black Lion.

He also regrets that he can never truly get close to people out of fear they will abandon him, and perhaps a part of him wishes that someone told him not to go.

And even though Lotor is sad that his father dismissed him.

It still works in his grand scheme of things to come, since his ties with his family have been officially let go, he can now have complete freedom.

So in conclusion seeing how Lotor and Keith do have a similar background story, I can see Lotor manipulating Keith as well and using that common feeling of always being abandoned as  a way to make all of Lotor’s evil scheming come to light. As stand offish as Keith can be, I don’t doubt for a minute that Lotor would be able to read him, and use the insecurity he has to bring him over to his side. I’m not saying Keith will turn evil, I’m just saying he will betray Keith by reaching out to him on an emotional level. And I think genuinely Lotor would really want to find comradeship with Keith, but it won’t happen due to them being on opposite sides.

surreal-snow:

Things I want from season 5 of voltron:

• Keith backstory to reveal why he was kicked out of the garrison

• Way more side characters to get attached to (THAT DON’T DIE! Will miss you Regris 😦 )

• Less action, more character development!!!

• Keith to get to rest

• hunk to be more than comic relief and get more information on him and his family (even if it’s not essential to the plot JUST FUCKING GIVE IT TO ME)

• Lance to call Keith out for trying to kill himself (Matt is a tattletale but for a good reason)

• Lance and Keith BONDING MOMENT ROUND 2!

• Maybe keith says they should try to trust Lotor and Lance agrees with him?? (I can only hope!)

• The real shiro to return from war (or his long ass nap whichever one it is just give him back. Enough of this Kuron shit I can’t take it!)

• Keith to get rest

• get really close to DEFEATING ZARKON??

• Matt and Pidge try to find their dad (and cry if they don’t :/)

• Lance to show off his heritage as a beaut Cuban boy

DID I MENTION KEITH GETS TO FUCKING REST?!

Voltron’s Endgame

salve-sis:

Taking into account the Seven Plot Points Formula and the Third Act Structure used in films, it’s safe to assume Voltron is now headed for the crisis of the overall storyline, and it will occur in/around episode 52. This can be supported through analysis of Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery’s previous works: Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. First, here’s an overview of the Seven Plot Points, taken from keepwriting.com:

Number One. The Back Story haunts the central character.

Number Two. The Catalyst gets the character moving. It’s part of the story’s setup.

Number Three. The Big Event changes the character’s life.

Number Four. The Midpoint is the point of no return or a moment of deep motivation.

Number Five. The Crisis is the low point, or an event that forces the key decision that leads to your story’s end.

Number Six. The Climax or Showdown is the final face-off between your central character and the opposition.

Number Seven. The Realization occurs when your character and/or the audience sees that the character has changed or has realized something.

Voltron has a 78-episode commitment. Having finished episode 39, we have officially reached the midpoint of the show. And what a doozy it was! Keith almost died, the Coalition has been established, and Voltron has officially taken back an entire third of the Galra Empire with the help of no other than Zarkon’s son, Lotor, who has been betrayed by his generals and is on the run from the Empire. The plot has taken a huge leap forward. This is a wonderful example of the Midpoint of a story.

Voltron has passed its Big Event and Midpoint. The logical next step for the show to take is the Crisis. The Crisis is the second main plot point in a story which marks the end of the second act and harkens the third (the first is the Big Event). It is the beginning of the endgame, and usually serves as the heroes’ lowest point.
Here is a diagram of the 3-Act Structure (taken from filmscriptwriting.com):

image

Dos Santos and Montgomery have worked on shows which follow if not the traditional 3 act formula, then a variant of it. Legend of Korra, composed of 52 episodes, follows the traditional formula. This is clear once you divide the episode number into the appropriate acts: 13-26-13. In this instance, the Crisis would occur around episode 39. Admittedly, since Korra is divided for the most part into four separate arcs, it’s hard to pinpoint the overall major plot points of the series. It is easier to do so when you focus less on the plot and more on Korra’s overall journey. Korra hits her lowest point in Episode 39 when she is poisoned by her enemies. She nearly dies, and the episode ends with her wheelchair-bound, circles under her eyes, shedding a tear. The trauma is so great it takes Korra three years to recover. AKA: Crisis.

LOK’s predecessor, The Last Airbender, does not follow the traditional 3 Act formula. This is apparent as using the formula on its 61-episode count pinpoints the Crisis at around episode 45, which served as a day in the spotlight for Zuko and his Fire Nation companions. It is a compelling episode with significant development for Zuko, but it does not significantly advance the plot. If you were to look at each of the three seasons as its own acts, however, the crisis would be episode 40. This is the episode where Zuko rejects his chance at redemption, Azula mortally injures Aang, robbing him of his ability to enter the Avatar Spirit, and Ba Sing Se falls and with it, the Gaang’s resources for an army to invade the Fire Nation. Crisis.

Voltron is composed of 78-episodes. Following Korra’s 3-Act structure, the episodes would be divided into 19-39-19 (with one left over), and the crisis would occur around episode 58. Following The Last Airbender’s structure, each act would have 26 episodes each, and the crisis should happen in episode 52. Therefore, it is safe to assume Voltron will begin its endgame within episodes 52-58. I am personally leaning towards Voltron following the Last Airbender’s story structure, as its Big Event occurred at episode 26, exactly one-third into the series, when Zarkon was put on life-support and Shiro went missing, setting up major changes to the team’s dynamics and introducing a new major antagonist to the fold.

If that’s the case, we’ll see our heroes suffer a crippling blow in just 13 more episodes. As in next season, if they don’t split the season up in half again.
