// Chise’s expression when Marielle kisses Elias on the cheek after their conversation with the coven.

I thought this was actually pretty significant of a reaction when it came to Chise. She’s shocked and even possibly showing signs of jealousy that Marielle kissed Elias. More importantly, this kind of expression isn’t just so much shock when it comes to expressions in manga/anime, she’s clearly uncomfortable that someone is kissing someone she has feelings for.

I love in the manga that Marielle speaks about witches and prostitution as well, which was left out of the anime, but Chise gets all iojsdfiosdjf over it. Marielle is clearly very confident in her sexuality and open about such things, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that she’d kiss people openly as affection and thanks (including Elias and Chise herself).

Chise is definitely pictured as someone innocent when it comes to sex, but she also knows more than people might think. She shows understanding of it throughout the series, so she’s not THAT ignorant. I’d imagine she knows as much as any other average (non sexual engaging) 15-16 year old (who never had the talk, which believe me, just because you’ve never had the talk doesn’t mean you don’t learn via conversation with others–she went to school, after all). Also, the fact that she says “Oh, I get it, he’s into that,” about Oberon also indicates that she knows people can enjoy pain sexually.

One of the other scenes I LOVE in this series is when she actually wakes to see Oberon, who asks about them having children. Chise pauses and looks at Elias, and I really do believe that’s the first time she sees Elias as a sexual being, as someone who she has a potential future with as well as someone she can apparently bare children with (aka sexual intercourse–even if it’s different for half fae, we don’t know).

Chise: “Why would he mention kids? Wouldn’t that mean…?”

What I love about this scene is that BOTH Chise and Elias become aware of it. Chise becomes aware in a more sexual awareness (because she’s human and understands parts of that more likely than Elias does) and Elias himself becomes aware of his feelings. He might not understand them, but when Chise gives him a certain look, a NEW look (blushing at it and in turn him), a look of ‘I just lost part of my innocence at the thought of what Oberson said’, Elias is in turn affected by it, feeling his heart flutter.

Elias: “Something just fluttered against my ribs. How odd.”

Honestly… look at that face. You can’t tell a lot with Elias’ expressions, but the angle certainly helps here. There’s something concerned but his expression seems quite gentle as well, before he puts his hand to his chest.

What I love MOST about this scene, though, it Titania’s response. She knows EXACTLY what is going on between the two, and even references it to Oberon being the one who brought this topic up between the two of them.

Titania: “Well, look at that, even my lummox of a husband can be useful sometimes.”

I absolutely love this scene, it’s one of my favourites from the entire series, because it’s a HUGE turning point for the both of them. They are finally starting to realise that they care more for each other than they really know. It’s a turning point because Chise has finally grown up in a sense, and her ‘selfish behaviour’ is starting to wither because she’s come to care for someone other than herself (even though we all know the selfish trope is merely Chise’s perception of herself).

Elias, on the other hand, had started to feel. We can assume that the flutter in his chest is one of attraction for Chise, something that is stirred by the mere sight of her and he’s begun to have a ‘crush’ type sensation (which in turn is proven by his intense jealousy once Stella comes into the picture).

I just love this scene… sorry I’m rambling. I just adore it to pieces because it’s so damn significant, and the kiss to Elias’ cheek suggests that Chise is even herself possessive of Elias in return (in a healthy way, not like how Elias reacted, of course).
