violetrance:

I’m just realising right now how much these two scenes parallel each other, but not in the same context, in terms of symbolising conclusions or something coming to an end

In Keith’s case, Allura was coming to terms with the fact that he was Galra and finally accepting this. She realized that she was being biased towards Keith for immediately assuming that just because he was Galra, that meant he was bad

In this moment Allura was able to move on from those feelings that had been holding her back for a long time. The way she viewed Keith is this season was also a set back for him too, especially since he was struggling to accept finding out that he was Galra as well

In Lance’s case, he comforts Allura after she begins doubting herself because of Lotor’s betrayal

But just like Keith was coming to terms with the fact that he was Galra in s2, Lance was also coming to the terms with the fact that his love for Allura is unrequited this season. That she does not have the same feelings for him in her heart like she did Lotor

Allura finds out about his feelings and by her reaction, you can tell what Lance is speculating is right, she doesn’t feel the same way

It doesn’t make sense for them to emphasize that his feelings for her are unrequited, just for her to suddenly fall for him when things fall apart with Lotor. Lance knows in this moment that right now romance is not what Allura needs, she needs time to move on and heal herself, become stronger. So like Allura put aside her feelings towards Keith, that’s what Lance does as well and comforts her as a friend, a shoulder to lean on so that she can move forward

This could have been the perfect moment for him to say “I need you” and confess his feelings for her, but he didn’t, because all it would do is set her back. He’s the type of person who cares more about others than himself, so he’ll try to make them happy first even if that means he’s not

This is Lance’s first step in moving on from her, the episode is literally called “All Good Things”, which comes from the phrase “All good things must come to an end”. That symbolises a lot. Lance having to move on from her was also foreshadowed during the lion switches (as he’s talking to Blue who belongs to Allura now)

The next lion he eventually moves onto is Red, which originally belongs to Keith, something that might also be foreshadowing where Lance might end up. During his hug with Allura in which he’s finally accepting what he needs to do, who’s the person to interrupt it?

This isn’t the first time this has happened too, but in the same ep where he’s passing on Blue to Allura and I don’t think that’s a coincidence either
