Anti-fujos are invalid, and there’s no excuse for being one. Anti-fujoshi discoursers:

– misuse Japanese terms and refuse to listen to Japanese people who tell them they’re using them wrong

– ignore nonbinary people and throw us under the bus with their bullshit “fetishization” definitions

– call all fujoshis “straight girls”, erasing queer and nb fans and often straight up misgendering us

– ignore gay men who disagree with/call out their nonsense because acknowledging them might make them look like the whiny brats they are

– hypocritically enjoy and consume the exact content they shame fujoshi for enjoying (and forget that most of the content they like is created by women)

…and this is without even getting into how fundamentally misogynistic the whole movement is which is like. The biggest problem of all. Shaming and harassing women for expressing sexuality in a way you aren’t personally comfortable with but that doesn’t affect you or your life in any way is misogynistic bullshit, period, no ifs no ands no buts.

If a woman is actually being homophobic, call her out on it. No one is stopping you from doing that, no one is arguing that you should not do that. I am encouraging you to do that. Reading comics about two fictional men fucking is not homophobic. Shipping two guys on a show when it’s not canon is not homophobic. 

What they’re doing isn’t calling out homophobia, it’s being a dick to women for liking fiction that they don’t like….or in some cases, fiction they DO like, but it’s somehow okay when they do it. If you don’t like the word ‘fujoshi’, fine, don’t use it, but you don’t get to change what it means to suit your narrative and justify your shitty behavior.

Pro fujos are invalid and there’s no reason to still be one in 2018. Pro fujoshi discourse includes:

-like to pretend that they’re being oppressed for being told to not fetishize gay people

– like to pretend that treating gay people as fetish fuel isn’t homophobia

– like to pretend that their culture isn’t toxic 

– denying that there’s any racism rooted in fujoshi culture event hough there definitely is

-ignore and even mock gay men, especially Asian gay men, who say that fujoshi culture reminds them of homophobic rhetoric

-90% of pro fujoshi’s are also lesbophobes

– a lot of fujoshi’s end up spreading radfem/terf rhetoric in how they make the submissive gay men in the ship act like women. Especially bad in how they handle writing trans gay men characters.

-lowill gladly help ridicule content for LGBT people that doesn’t cater to fujoshi fantasies

-though it falls under the racism part, I feel the need to mention how almost all fujoshi’s spread anti black tropes/stereotypes in their fujoshi content

Agreed. You wanna know what is homophobic though? Expecting for all MLM content to cater to your borderline homophobic fujoshi trope. Labeling literally ALL MLM content as yaoi even when the author asks you not to. Shipping a gay man with a gay boy who could be his son/nephew age gape wise. Shipping two men together despite them being family members.

Shipping two men together even when its an abuser-abuse victim dynamic. Headcanoning canon male pedophiles, rapists, abusers and nazi’s/fascists as gay and turning them into the sissy villain trope is homophobia. Using gay men who are too scared to speak up about your homophobia or don’t understand homophobia enough to realize what you’re doing is gross is homophobia. By denouncing fujoshi culture we’re not saying NO gay content can exist. The fact you made that correlation is a you problem.

One that I encourage you and others like you to change for the better. Stop acting like fujoshi culture isn’t about fetishizing gay men. And definitely stop acting like being told to stop fetishizing gay men is the same as sexism, homophobia, abuse or harassment. You insult all the people who’ve dealt with legit sexism, homophobia, abuse and harassment by misusing those words to self victimize over being told to fix your bad habits.
