I had never thought about this, America is scary.

this is wild, i cant imagine anyone approaching a police officer after getting pulled over

But… it’s good manners… you’re supposed to go to them, that’s how it works…

Another important thing you need to know is DO NOT GET ANYTHING IN YOUR CAR. DO NOT REACH FOR ANYTHING. Do not move to grab anything, do not make any large movements like leaning. Lower your window, keep your wrists on top of the steering wheel and your hands OPEN, and when the officer is at your window, tell him ‘I’m reaching to <location> here to get my <paperwork and other documentation needed.’ Don’t even reach to scratch yourself, keep your voice as calm and restrained as possible. 

Keep your hands in sight at all times, always tell the officer what you’re reaching for. Do not put your hand outside of the window to give it to him, hold it up high enough for him to reach out and take it unless otherwise instructed. Be ready to rattle off your name, your country, and a reason for visiting, such as tourism or visiting a friend or relative.

At all times, assume your life could be in danger. Assume the cop is dangerous. Be as predictable and non-threatening as possible. Treat the cop with the same caution you would give a wild animal. 

This isn’t even an exaggeration this is accurate as fuck.
