here’s a post to all those who never got “sick enough” to go to treatment; who were able to succeed in recovery in an outpatient setting or without therapy at all. here’s a post validating that it’s okay to feel inadequate, like a failure, like a liar, like a fake, because you never needed a higher level of care. your pain is real and it is valid.
your eating disorder will do anything to keep hold of you. for you, maybe it’s that you never went to treatment. for someone else, maybe it’s a certain diagnosis. for me, it’s that I never reached a certain weight. no matter what that thing is, your eating disorder will come up with another one in order keep hold. you went to treatment? go again, keep going. you got the diagnosis? prove them right, keep going. you made your goal weight? keep going. your disorder won’t ever let you win.
