Question: Library Science is a thing, and to be a librarian you have to get a degree in it
So my question is, if you have a degree in library science, are actively working as a librarian, publishing papers on the subject, etc. do you count as a ‘library scientist’?
Update: I have been informed that the answer is
“Technically, yes, because you’re working in a ‘scientific field’, but not really, because ‘scientist’ is classically supposed to apply to someone that works in a laboratory, or in the study of the natural world. So while technically that would be correct, the connotation would not be.”
Very interesting.
Now, given this knowledge, if you had all the original skills (a degree in library science, actively working in the field, etc.) how valid would it be to use “I’m a scientist” as a point in an argument
