I absolutely hate how Hades is perceived as some sort of villain out of the Big Three in media when his counterparts are cheating rapists who often murder people for no good reason.
Hades wasn’t the God of death but instead the Underworld where people went when they died, so he can control the dead but is actually not responsible for them dying. Also he has a dog named spot and the worse thing he’s written as doing is kidnapping Persephone. But in the original story he doesn’t kidnap her at all.
Persephone enters the underworld willingly, enjoys it and refuses to leave even when Zeus confronts her. Which is why she spends Winter with Hades and Summer with her mother. Hades didn’t force her to stay at all, if anything Persephone is scarier than Hades could ever be. I remember reading that her name literally translates to ‘the destroyer’.
None of the Greek Gods are perfect characters but Hades is the worst to make a villain when his competition are two serial rapists.
