How many times have we seen a character actually show fear and sadness about dying? We’re so used to seeing dying characters playing cool and being all “don’t worry about me, you have to move on… etc” that we seem to have forgotten that dying is actually something very scary. It didn’t matter that Ebisu knew he would be reincarnated because he was so touched by Yato’s words. There he was, a grown-up famous God crying like a baby and admitting that he didn’t want to die. Somehow I felt like that made his death so much more real and impactful.
